Description of Department/Service

The Audiology Department provides a differential diagnostic service in the Outpatient Department at Tallaght University Hospital.

We assess adults who present with suspected hearing difficulties, vertigo or tinnitus. This service primarily supports ENT, Age Related Healthcare and Emergency Department services.

We also provide a monitoring / surveillance / baseline function for Adults undergoing new drug therapies or who may have been exposed to infections e.g. Congenital Cytomegalovirus (cCMV ), Meningitis etc.

Patients attending any discipline may present with hearing difficulties which may not have been addressed. Please note we are only able to accept referrals from our hospital medical staff.

As one of the largest teaching hospitals we are supportive of education in a variety of medical disciplines, including the provision of clinical placement training and supervision for students attending the Msc Audiology course in University College Cork.
