What we do?Oncology Day Ward provides outpatient services for patients with cancer, primarily for delivery of chemotherapy and ancillary procedures and infusions. Treatments include intravenous and oral anticancer therapies. Preparation and aftercare is also provided for procedures in interventional radiology related to cancer treatment. Care is provided by three oncologists on the Oncology Day Ward with a team of specialised nurses. There is a specialist cancer trials unit within the oncology service. All treatment is provided within the framework of the National Cancer Control Programme. A multidisciplinary team including pharmacy, dietetics, social work and palliative care provide evidence based care for all patients attending the service. Preparation for imaging such as CT scanning and MRI scanning is also provided for patients under the care of oncologists. |
