Positive Patient Identification
When you attend TUH we will check your personnel details, name, date of birth and address. If you are going to stay with us for a while we will also provide you with a wristband that contain all your details and a medical record number. Every time we have important information to give, we are giving you medication, we are taking a sample from you or we are moving you somewhere, we will ask you to tell us your name and date of birth again. You may find this a little irritating but the reason we do it this is to make sure that we have the right patient first time every time. Don’t be afraid to say to a staff member to check your details if they don’t do it. So when you attend Tallaght University Hospital to ensure your safety and the best possible care for you ‘Expect to be Checked’
