ExperienceDr. Alexander graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1995 and subsequently completed Basic Medical Training in 1998. Following a HRB Research Fellowship investigating genetic and clinical aspects of Motor Neuron Disease, he was appointed to the Irish Neurology Specialist Registrar Training program in 2002 and received his Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) in Neurology in 2006. He was appointed to the London Specialist Registrar Training Program in Clinical Neurophysiology in 2006, based predominantly at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square and The Royal Free Hospital London. He completed his paediatric neurophysiology training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Dr. Alexander was awarded a Certification of Completion of Training in Clinical Neurophysiology by the UK Postgraduate Medical and Education Training Board in 2009. He worked as a locum Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, England before taking up his current post as a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist at The Adelaide and Meath Hospitals incorporating the National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght, Dublin in June 2009. Dr. Alexander has been on the Medical Council Register of Medical Specialists in Neurophysiology and Neurology since 2009. He has published 15 peer reviewed articles in the field of neurology. Dr. Alexander has a specialist interest in nerve entrapment, trauma related nerve injury, motor neuron disease and hereditary and genetic neuropathies. He has a keen interest in teaching and has been a faculty member and tutor for the UK ILAE Annual Residential EEG program since its inception in 2011. He is a member of both the Irish and British Societies of Clinical Neurophysiology. |
