How to Find Us?

Directions to the Pharmacy from the Hospital Atrium

-         After the lifts, turn right onto the large corridor called "hospital street".

-         You will see overhead signs directing you to the various departments.

-         The Pharmacy is on a corridor to the right, approximately 80m along the hospital street.

-         Follow the signs for Pharmacy Reception – note that Pharmacy is a secure area and the reception door is locked.

-         Press the buzzer and await a signal that the door has been released.

-         The appointments co-ordinator's reception desk will be on your left

-         Please arrive for your appointment early to allow extra time to find parking in the Hospital

Zero harm

As part of a series of Zero Harm initiatives run in the Hospital the Pharmacy team have produced a ‘My Medicines’ leaflet for all patients and their carers to use when coming to Tallaght University Hospital for their appointments or to the Emergency Department. By filling in the leaflet and having it up-to-date patients and their carers are helping us to treat them safely in the hospital.

Adverse drug events can cause severe harm to patients and distress for their carers, as well as prolonged and more intensive hospital care.
The ‘My Medicines’ leaflet helps our patients and their carers to document a list of current medicines and supplements. This is your record of your medicines. Please keep the record up-to-date and bring it with you when attending Tallaght University Hospital or any healthcare appointment. If you become ill, you or a member of your family can bring this record to hospital.

Please feel free to print a copy and share it with any family members or friends who you know might benefit from its use.

Bring Your Medicines in At Admission
When you come in to the Hospital for admission, bring your medicines with you. This helps staff checking to make sure you remain on the correct medication during the admission process. Usually the Hospital will provide medications during your stay, but you may be asked to continue using your supplies of inhalers, insulin, and certain High Tech Medicines while in the Hospital.

Referrals

The Pharmacy Department does not require referrals for a clinical pharmacist to review medication prescriptions. Clinical pharmacists are attached to the medical teams and will review medication charts, prioritising patients for care using a system developed in house.
