CHI at Tallaght - 22.12.2021COVID-19 Vaccine information for Parents/Carers of Children aged 5-11 years with Allergies All children in Ireland aged 5-11 years will soon be offered a vaccine to protect them against severe COVID-19 infection. The vaccine being offered is an mRNA vaccine called Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech).
Vaccine related allergic reactions including life threatening reactions (anaphylaxis) are extremely rare. A very small number of cases of anaphylaxis have occurred since the COVID-19 vaccine rollout began. Your child’s vaccinator has been trained to treat very rare serious allergic reactions.
Almost all allergic children between 5 and 11yrs can safely receive the Cominarty Vaccine. Those with a history of anaphylaxis will be observed for an extra 15 mins.
