(March 19th 2024) Public nominations are now open for the sixth annual Staff Hero Awards at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH). These unique awards include a special category where the community are asked to nominate their Staff Hero for The Patient Experience Award.
Members of the public are invited to nominate a staff member for this award either by email, post or by filling out a form in the Hospital reception by the closing date of Friday, May 10th 2024. The Hospital is asking people to explain in their email, letter or form why they are nominating the particular staff member as a Hospital Hero. Alternatively patients / family members can click on this link and fill out the form online.
As public nominations open, Lucy Nugent, TUH CEO, said: “These awards recognise the amazing work my colleagues do, whether on the frontline or behind the scenes. Our annual Hero Awards honour their dedication and incredible spirit as they go above and beyond in caring for our patients.”
Sharon Larkin, Director of HR said: “While it is terrific to be part of the judging panel for the Hero Awards, it is always a challenging task to select a winner. Every year I feel inspired and humbled reading the nominations so please do take the time to fill in a nomination form. Every person that is nominated receives a letter with the comments on why someone thought they were a hero.”
Launching this year’s Hero Awards, Professor Anne-Marie Brady, Chair of the Hospital Board said “This awards will be announced on June 21st, an important day for our staff and community as we celebrate the opening of the Hospital. This event is a fantastic way to recognise our staff who have gone the extra mile for their patients. It is also an opportunity to recognise those who have introduced innovative new practices across the Hospital to improve patient care.”

As well as the community-nominated Patient Experience Award, hospital staff also vote for colleagues internally across several categories. Anyone visiting the Hospital in the next few weeks can pick up a form in the Hospital Volunteer Coffee Shop, and hand it into reception.
