Service Update

(March 5th 2018) We would like to advise patients that our out-patients in both our Adult and Paediatric Services will run as normal today. We would ask patients only to attend if it is safe for them to travel. If you are unable to attend please call the contact number on your appointment letter tomorrow to let us know. All appointments will be rescheduled.

For patients who were unable to attend appointments last Thursday / Friday the Hospital will contact you with a rescheduled appointment. There will be some curtailment to elective admissions next week and a member of Hospital staff will be in contact with you directly regarding this. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to patients.

Our Emergency Departments remain open and we wish to reassure patients that those who attend the EDs will be seen. As we prioritise treatment and care for the sickest patients and those with life threatening illnesses, it means that patients with less serious illnesses and conditions may need to wait longer for their treatment. That is why we are asking people to think about all of their care and treatment options so we can keep our ED services for the patients who need them most particularly over the next few days.

Tallaght Hospital was at full capacity through the recent weather alert and we would like to acknowledge the heroic efforts our staff made to ensure the Hospital continued to deliver safe patient care. We would also like to acknowledge the support we have received from the Defence, Emergency and volunteer services. Special thanks to local clubs St. Faugh’s GAA, St. Jude’s GAA Club and Terenure Rugby Football Club) who came to our aid with 4x4 vehicles and ferried staff to and from work – people caring for people, the true spirit of Tallaght and the community in which we are located.
